Brett Casey

Chief Executive Officer

Deaf Connect

Brett has been the Chief Executive Officer of Deaf Connect since 2010 leading the organisation Strategic Directions. In 2020, Brett led Deaf Services Queensland (as it then was) through a merger with The Deaf Society based in NSW and rebranded to Deaf Connect. Since then, Deaf Connect has continued significant growth with acquisitions of the Royal South Australian Deaf Society and Access Plus WA Deaf in Western Australia along with expansion opportunities in Victorian and Northern Territory making Deaf Connect a truly national organisation. With transformational leadership incorporating innovative solutions, Brett has played a pivotal leadership role in moving the organisation to a national provider delivering on its core mission of standing with the community to build its capacity and influence social change.

As a Deaf person working within the community and disability sector, Brett provides a unique perspective looking through the Deaf lens. From 2011-2014 Brett was appointed as the Independent Chair for the Queensland Disability Advisory Council providing strategic and policy advice to the Minister of Disabilities in Queensland. He was further appointed as expert member intersectional relations. Brett was also a member of the QLD Government NDIS Transition Advisory Group. Further international work accomplishments has seen Brett being appointed to the Legal Commission of the International Committee of Deaf Sports (ICSD) from 2014 – 2018 and subsequently appointed to the Legal Commission of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) since 2016.

Brett has a vision where access and equity for Deaf and hard of hearing people in the community is no longer an issue, rather a right for all Australians.
